Paul Apte

Paul Apte has over 35 years’ industry experience. He joined the Vulcan laser facility at the Rutherford Appleton laboratory in 1985 to work on Inertial Confinement Fusion before joining the spin out laser systems company and DUV Lithography pioneer Exitech Ltd as their first employee in 1988. This also involved the development of some of the first commercial Pulsed Laser deposition systems for HTS research.
In 2003 he setup his own company, Rideo Systems specialising in laser applications, laser systems design, and consultancy.

In 2013 he was again involved in nuclear fusion , but this time magnetic confinement. Helping design the control systems and diagnostics for the small spherical Tokamaks (ST25 & ST25HTS) for the start-up Nuclear Fusion company Tokamak Energy.

He currently works with companies advising on complex machine design, including digital Hologram printers and medical devices, and now includes small educational devices such as the "Mini Mak" due to his personal interest in Fusion.

He has a Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering and Physics and a PhD in Applied Physics from Loughborough University in the UK.
